Big Vs Small Budgets
I am catching up on some BRW* reading and I am hooked by an interview with Mark Bouris – the former Wizard Home Loans chief and now founder of a new empire – Yellow Brick Road.
Why? Mark notes that the Marketing budgets for Yellow Brick Road are significantly less than what was the case at Wizard ($500K vs. $10m) – however, interestingly enough, Bouris claims that his new, much smaller budget is working better. Reality TV, ‘free’ educational seminars, newspaper columns, local area marketing and regular radio spots are proving to be a more effective way to recruit quality franchisees and customers.
Very interesting indeed!
Until next time!

Top social media campaigns
Patrick Stafford from Smart Company recently wrote an interesting article/case study on Social Media.
Stafford concluded that whilst plenty of businesses use social media as marketing campaigns, there are very few who achieve high levels of success.
One of the keys he identifies to executing a successful campaign is ensuring there are multiple ways in which the social media network/s can be engaged as part of the overall campaign strategy.

B2B Marketing
Do you operate in a B2B environment? If so, no doubt you will agree that from a tactical perspective, B2B marketing is more challenging B2C.
From a theory perspective, the academic research also supports this claim. A Journal article, ‘Strategy Driven B2B promotions’ by Karl Hellman, suggests that while B2B marketing is challenging, there are some key learning’s.
