2010 – another year has arrived!

2010 – another year has arrived!

Christmas and summer holidays have past and 2010 is here.  Sigh.....

Did you spend the break thinking about work or did you have some quality time off? I did a bit of both – which I guess is typical of most small business owners.  I hope you managed some time to recharge your batteries.

So, what’s new for Next Marketing in 2010?

One of our first goals is to grow the audience for this e newsletter and I have some ideas of how you can help!   Last year I noted that I was receiving lots of emails of encouragement from people who received this update, so, with that in mind, I have decided that now is the time to make it bigger and better!  Stay tuned for further details.

Enjoy the rest of January.

Until next time!

Best foot forward in 2010

Best foot forward in 2010

In tight economic times, many businesses have the natural instinct to bunker down, retreat and reduce marketing activities. When really, the opposite is required.

For many businesses 2009 was a tough year. The good news is that you and your business have made it to a new year and 2010 is an opportunity to rebuild your brand and business.

Here are some things you should consider now as part of your start to 2010 -

  1. Does your branding need a makeover? Do your logo, letterhead, business cards, brochures and other marketing materials properly reflect your business and where you are going?
  2. Does your business meet your customer’s expectations?  What does your Target Audience want? Are you keeping up?
  3. What is your website doing? Is it a quality site? Are you proud of it? Is it current?
  4. Are you being seen? Have you attended any networking lunches, dinners or community events? Should you be raising your profile?
  5. Dress – does your appearance and dress match your professionalism and charge out rates?

Got a Privacy Policy on your website?

Got a Privacy Policy on your website?

It is a common business practice to have a 'privacy policy' located in the small text or bottom of your website. Does your site currently have one?

If you havent got one but have always wanted one, then here is a free tool that may help.

It’s an automated Privacy Policy wizard. Click here to check it out.

Do you track your Marketing campaigns?

Do you track your Marketing campaigns?

For each marketing campaign you have in the market, do you have mechanisms in place to track results?

In an era of digital marketing, there is really no excuse for not tracking marketing campaigns.  More importantly, how do you know if a campaign has or has not been successful if you dont have the results to prove either way.

If you are unsure about how to go about doing this, here are some suggestions to help you do so -

  • Unique URL’s (website pages) – tracked through programs such as Google analytics
  • Use of virtual numbers for large campaigns
  • Coupon codes
  • Specific offers only available through one campaign
