My LinkedIn journey

My LinkedIn journey

The regular readers of the Next Marketing e newsletter will notice some design changes to this issue. Essentially, it was time for a refresh and to launch my new journey into Social Networking. I have been seriously thinking about starting for about twelve months now, but where does the time go?

My initial focus will be on LinkedIn – with RSS feeds into both Facebook and Twitter. Are you using LinkedIn successfully for B2B marketing? If so, I would love to hear from you.

Over the next few weeks I will be in contact with those readers who are on LinkedIn, please join me on the journey or feel free to connect now by clicking on any of the links above!

PS – Need a business card update? I update my business card around this time of year, drop us a line to do the same.

Until next time!

Looking for a Cliché?

Looking for a Cliché?

Have you been searching for a cliché to use in a proposal or presentation? Whilst I am not a fan of using too many, there are instances where clichés are relevant and very helpful.

In this website, enter one of the key words or phrases you want to use in the search box and it will return a number of common clichés which use that particular word or words.

Have fun with it!

Thinking about copying your competitors marketing?

Thinking about copying your competitors marketing?

In a recent issue of the Australian Marketing Institute’s Marketing Update Bulletin, I read with interest a recent court case and judgement between Budget Eyewear and Specsavers.

Essentially, Budget Eyewear lodged a claim against Specsavers for copying an advertisement. The Federal Court decision in favour of Budget Eyewear is a good reminder to all of us to be careful when seeking to express the same concepts or ideas found in someone else’s advertising.

Typical Email Marketing Mistakes

Typical Email Marketing Mistakes

Want to create a great email marketing campaign? If so, here are some common mistakes to avoid.

  1. Poor database management – using an old customer database or hiring a dodgy list from an external company. SPAM complaints are inevitable. Make sure your database is up to date and relevant
  2. Poor email design – less is more and a clean design allows your readers to consume your message.
  3. Inadequate management of replies – Are you sending your campaign and then going on holidays for four weeks? Is there someone in your business to answer to replies? Consider your timing before you hit send.
  4. Being blocked by SPAM filters – the easiest way to avoid this is to use an email marketing program where your campaigns can be tested against this BEFORE they are sent. The Next Marketing product has this feature and this newsletter hasn’t been marked as SPAM yet!

If you need help with your email marketing or would like to start a program, Next Marketing can help.

Want to know more about SEO?

Want to know more about SEO?

There is no doubt that Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a complex and interesting industry. It is constantly evolving and it can be hard to keep up with the terms and phrases used by SEO consultants.

In my opinion, knowledge is power and whether you're looking to hire an SEO company or optimise your own website, then I would recommend up skilling yourself by reading this eBook.

I use this eBook as a reference tool each time I want to know something about SEO. It is 213 pages long, so it isn’t something you can overview in one sitting. I have printed my copy and have an agenda to read various sections over the coming months.

Given its length, you could easily implement the ‘things to do’ once a month for the remainder of 2010. I would highly recommend getting a copy of this eBook.
